Blue Tomato – A new shop is in town

Wheels

What would you do if you had the opportunity to skate a huge hall with two floors stuffed with skate obstacles in the heart of Zurich, which is turning into a BlueTomato Shop in a month? Well, guess what — we had a blast in that shred paradise.

At the end of October 2016, the big online store for Snow, Surf and Skate will finally open their very first store in beautiful Switzerland.

Ahead of opening day, Reverse Media was honored to film a teaser about the upcoming shop with a skateboard video project, made inside the halls that will be soon filled with clothes and decks. Pretty rad!

On a Sunday night, the typical wet and windy weather of Zürich greeted us as we headed to the Limmat-Quai to check out the empty store. The headquarters of Blue-Tomato was filled with some nice gifts: movable rails, boxes, and ramps. This little slice of heaven is waiting for the new shop riders Pascal Dudler, Mike Bänninger, and Johnny Grubenmann to rip it. Between the relaxed vibes and motivated riders, the video looks like is going to be major.

Carried away by the excitement, Nicki was screaming orders all night long: “More smoke, more riding, more light!” With laughter all around, we agreed on “More Smoke” as the title of our masterpiece movie.

At some point, I tried to convince the skaters to ride with smoky petards under their decks. “Not cool, dude! Not cool!” they complained. But after several discussions with the boys about how stupid it might look, we capitulated on this idea.

It was generally awesome to shoot in the dark, combined with smoke and light. The guys were killing it. Too soon, it was already midnight and over.

During the shoot, every single skater got injured—one of them even ended up at the hospital. I was looking around the corners if Voldemort was hiding somewhere and using his spells on our riders.

At 4 am after several money-shots and crashes worthy of the “Hall of Meat”, we left exhausted and stoked about the Blue-Tomato Store.
What a night!
