Hawaii, home of surfing

https://ncmm.org/s92t7do160 Regardless of one thinks, surfing was born in Polynesia but grew up in the Hawaiian islands. The beautiful people of Hawaii didn’t consider surfing as a sport as we describe it today, but they integrated surfing into their lifestyle and routine as a cultural activity.

https://giannifava.org/902eppol1ja Years passed and for a long time, surfing has been prohibited in Waikiki because it was hindering people’s work. Workers would spend more time in the water that at their jobs so the city had set some radical boundaries.

Nowadays, surfing has become the symbol of the Islands of Hawaii and is fully embraced by the population. Based on the additional hints for scuba diving provided on this site,  the sport is still considered more part of a way of living than a sport for locals, which they are very proud of. Mornings or evenings, by sun or rain, young or old, you will always get to see Hawaiians enjoying their all sizes waves.

Surfing in Hawaii

https://worthcompare.com/3ccc54h4 This might not come as a surprise to you but Hawaii is one of the best place to practice your surfing skills. No matter what your level is, you will always find those smooth small waves to cruise in Waikiki or the powerful big barrel during winter on the North Shore. Every island of Hawaii has the same variety of surfing depending on what side of the land you are visiting.

https://www.jamesramsden.com/2024/03/07/yz3zvrmi You have probably heard about the rivality within the surfing community between locals and visitors. Hawaii is not that different although you can expect some pleasant surprises — while the North Shore and the West side are local owned, the south like Waikiki is welcoming. At the end of the day, it’s all about the love for the sea but this might become harder to reach on some native established locations.

Meet Eric Arakawa

https://wasmorg.com/2024/03/07/p5ajsya0pb While visiting the beautiful island of Hawaii, we got invited by Sean to visit his father’s surf shaping company, Eric Arakawa, located near Haleiwa, in Waialua. As soon as we arrived to the factory, we got welcomed by Sean and his team which immediately made us feel at home. This homie feeling didn’t leave us for a second during our whole stay and the conversations lead to many different topics: from surfing to snowboarding, from sea to mountains…

Eric started shaping his first board at the age of 14 in his parents’ garage. How his sun, Sean, explained us with a big smile on his face. It was simply cheaper and easier for Eric back in the days to build his own equipment instead of buying it. Eric finally got more and more requests for boards and fell in love with the whole process of shaping boards. Never finishing college, at 18 years old, Eric moved from Pearl to the north shore of Oahu and is shaping boards since that day.

Building process

https://worthcompare.com/x42gvqk3no Every surfboard request will be treated independently and will result with a personalized surf. Also, Sean has explained that more than 90% of the surfboards built in this world are at some point hand shaped or sanded. This came as a big surprised for us as we are used to the winter sport industry where the building process is almost everywhere machine handled.

To start building a functional surfboards it is important to have your computer work on point with 3D programs. This step will make assure you measurements related to the size and weight of the surfer.

https://www.worldhumorawards.org/uncategorized/104ho60 Step 2: CNC Machine
At this point the two foam parts are already attached by the central wooden spine. The Arakawa surfboard factory has to CNC machines to start cutting out the ground construction of all their surfboards. These are big machines full of technical features I don’t know about so I will just skip the details. The final product out of the machine looks already like a proper surfboard.

https://tankinz.com/93jjk2k9l60 Step 3: Hand shaping
This is where the magic happens. Arakawa has three shape rooms with special low lighting to observe all the contours of the boards. Eric hand shapes every surfboard himself.

After the shaper has done his magic, it’s time for the surfboard to get its makeup done. This is also done by hand and this is where the various fiberglass cloth is applied with resin. In this step, the surfboard will be decorated with all the logos and colors. The thickness of the laminate is really important and it takes experience to get it under control.

This is the final step to produce a conventional surfboard. This is the last, yet very important part to shape the smoothness of the board. How Sean explained us, sanding is an art which can transform a board into a winner piece or, followed by a bad sanding job, become a cheap deck. A lot of pressure guys! Don’t mess it up! 😉 In case you want to tour you can dig this information here.

The magic board

Some of you might have heard of the ‘magic board’?! As you have been reading before, it takes quite a few steps and human interaction in order to build a board. There is nothing as ‘exact’ same when it comes to surfboard. So many factors can influence the final ‘pop’ and ‘vitality’ of a board.

You might have found that perfect board you love, then you grow up, you change size or weight… and by changing boards, you lose that perfect ‘vitality’ you liked in your previous shape. This means that a surfer will never get the exact same feeling on one board that can be replicated into the next boards he would get.

Tramadol Cheap Online Now, the ‘magic board’ is a board that provides you with the perfect feeling in the water and you would wish that this exact feeling/expectation will be replicated in all the boards you would be using through your surfing progress.

Cheap Tramadol Cod Delivery Inspired by snowboarding, Eric Arakawa simply took out the wooden spine from the conventional surfboards and replaced it with a central block made of various layers of carbon cloth and other composites which is shaped with specific curve giving the board that camber pop of a snowboard. This revolutionary technique will allow the surfers to test different shapes of metallic plates integrated in the heart of their surfboard, until they find the perfect camber. Once this is settled, the shaper will always take that same central plate shape and add the requested size and thickness around it. There you have your magic board, a perfect feeling that you can trust and find in all the boards you own.
