For this season, Reverse teamed up with K2 and Ride snowboards to offer a 360-degree view of the multiple sports options in the mountains. No matter the terrain or condition, our mission is to deliver a monthly article following Swiss athletes through parks, backcountry and streets.

Banked Slalom with Böni

Once upon a time, when half-pipes and kickers were still in their infancy, snowboarders used to have fun building and riding handmade slalom courses. By now, banked slaloms have distinguished themselves from the rest of the chaotic competition world. Mainly inspired by skateboarding and surfing, the only rule is riding as fast as boards can go. For the last two years, legends Nicolas Müller and Terje Håkonsen have chosen Laax as their new playground for the “Sudden Rush Laax Banked Slalom Open”.

On a stormy Saturday we caught up with Emanuel Böni, Ride Snowboards’ manager for the Swiss brigades.

How did it feel to be back competing again?
It felt strange, after so many years off; in some ways I was kind of nervous. The feeling was still as awesome as the first time. Sharing it with my friends and team made the experience even better. Fun times.

To be honest, my legs are burning like hell right now (laughing). After two training runs, I think it is better to have just a final one. But at the end, when there are friends and powder, who cares if your legs hurt?

Tramadol India Online You have been rider for a long time and now you’re a manager. How did it happen?
My old team manager and long-time friend Sacha Giger is who introduced me to this world. He had been managing the business for ten years before he left it in my hands. As team riders, in that period we were working together. Eventually, one day he called me, asking if I was interested in taking that position. At first I was surprised and hesitant about a final answer. It took me one day to think about it, afterwards I was in!

Order Tramadol 180 Tabs Did you enjoy the transition?
Personally, I found it really hard to have so few days to spend on the mountains. On the other hand, the fun of working in the snowboard world makes office days worth them. Since I am getting older and my skills are not that outstanding anymore, it sounds more like a wise choice.

What kind of relationship have you established with your team riders since then?
Hard question. Most of my team riders were first teammates. Now it feels more like being part of a big family. Unfortunately, when components of the family leave the team, it is really a tough moment. Right now I am really satisfied with the current group of riders we have. In some ways it is fun to work together but is also difficult to find new people who fit into it.

https://www.lcclub.co.uk/hmp7jf8 Who provides the fresh meat?
Finding new candidates might be not as easy as it seems. I have a lots of friends, riders and people involved in the snowboard world, who advise me about potential candidates. My days on the slopes are limited. Most of times, the media we find, such as videos and pictures, is what helps me out. If you’re doing doubles at fifteen, your future looks pretty bright.

https://ncmm.org/bz08ekcpy4k Working in Switzerland gives you open doors to tons of riders, more experienced ones and talented young guns. How does Ride Switzerland support and push this generation?
Usually, we support riders for a year with the material they need or good deals on boards and affiliates. If the collaboration works out and both parties are satisfied, things just naturally converge to the same point.

https://www.mominleggings.com/pz2ua06y9 In which direction has the brand evolved into what is now?
Over the last couple of years, Ride has radically changed. The brand’s stepped back onto the core side of snowboarding. Mainly focused on park and urban terrains, from boards to boots, the whole line was re-invented. Inspired by skateboarding for next season, the collection looks stronger than ever. New graphics have been added to this year’s boards and fresh engineers have been working to produce the best boards out there.

If snowboarding had not been such a big part of your life, what would you be doing instead?
I would feel lost without it. For 18 years, I have worked in the sports retail industry so I guess that things wouldn’t look much different if snowboarding would have been left out.
