A chat with Roger Heid, Riders Hotel’s manager

Roger, I know you and I am confident to say that everything you touch turns into gold! Starting with the Laax snowparks, then the freestyle academy and now this. The hotel is a totally different field, then the snow/skatepark. What inspired you to take over a hotel?
I guess it was never a decision, the opportunity was presented to me and I took it. Same with the freestyle academy and the snowpark, it was never planned.
Back in the days it was amazing to work for the snowparks and in the freestyle scene and now, the Rider Hotel is a new step forward. I guess it suits me better now as I grew up as well as my interests evolved. I always had a passion for hotels, travels, music and design anyways. If you can work on a project like the Riders Hotel, it’s one of the coolest things, because all of those things are coming together in that one place.

Tramadol Online Next Day Delivery Tramadol Online Prices Is it then fair to say that you relate more to this hotel industry than the freestyle scene?
Personally, I’m starting to get more into hotels than freestyle. But this is also a process with me growing older. I mean I still ride my snowboard and I still ride the park, but it’s good to let new people bring their thoughts and inputs. Don’t get me wrong I still have a lot of fun on my snowboard, but you kind of loose what is going on in the community. So, it was definitely time for a change, but the cool thing is, we still have all the riders here. I’m not completely out of this whole scene.

Tramadol Online Cod Fedex I know it was a big process to arrive to this design. How did you proceed? Are you now having all the features you wanted?
At the beginning, it was a process that was always changing, for all different kinds of reasons: because of time, money, for whatever reasons, so it took us quite a while. At this point, the hotel is how we always imagined it, although I admit, we would have some plans to change some things still here in the lobby or in the restaurant. I could imagine the restaurant becoming a full time restaurant in the future.
What could also progress is the wellness. We don’t have it yet, but it’s still in our minds. It was hard to finalize that over the summer. We didn’t get enough time and also the idea with making the wellness on the roof is not so easy to implement. We are still planning on it. It all depends on, how the hotel is running this winter and if everything is going well, there would be a chance to do a little spa area on the roof, or even a little bar for the summer.

Laax is for sure the right place to be supported with such evolutions and growth for hotels and spaces. The whole Laax resort has changed so much over the summer. Should we expect even more to come?
Yes, Laax is definitely the right place for all big evolutions and changes. Also “Crap Sogn Gion” is going to change again. What is happening up there at the moment is not a long-term project, I guess it’s more a three to five years thing. There will probably be big shifts again.
Maybe the expending will, in the future, more be focused in infrastructure, also up the mountain: better snowparks and also into environmental protection, snowmaking and access to the ski area. Also in summer, the resort has a lot of good ideas, for example with skating or biking.

https://wasmorg.com/2024/03/07/tkd3m3q23 Ok Roger, honestly we searched for a critical questions about the new Riders Hotel for quite a while: we weren’t successful. From an internal point of view, what would you still improve?
To be honest, I think there is a lot to improve. For example, here in the bar and lobby the whole acoustics are not very good yet. When there is a band playing and there are also a lot of people in the bar, the conversations resonate too much in my point of view. Plus, the lobby sound is sometimes also affecting the hotel rooms with noise. Sometimes when I come into the bar/lobby, I have the feeling it’s like back in the days, so that is for sure something we have to work on. That’s also a criticism we get from hotel guests. But something is coming already this season and we hope it will get better already. On the other hand, this is what makes the whole Riders Hotel experience.

https://tankinz.com/devjrlqhvb What are going to turn into gold next, now that Riders Hotel is finalised?
We still have to find out if the Riders Hotel turns into gold, haha. We don’t know yet, we can only confirm after this season. But from how many reservations we already have over the winter, it’s looking not too bad and we are often fully booked.
To be honest, I don’t have anything planned yet. I’ve worked so much over the summer and also now in the winter, I need a little surfing break in spring and then we will see what’s coming next. There are a lot of ideas of what can still be done in Laax and I hope after managing the changes in the Riders Hotel, WAG will trust us into new projects.
