Why we RIDE

Snow

Last weekend, we had the pleasure to welcome the Ride Switzerland team in our favorite resort for a 2-days gathering. We invited the whole Swiss Ride Family for a cozy weekend in LAAX, filled with activities and happenings.

The family

To us, Ride is more than just a snowboard brand. It’s a family! And that is exactly what this weekend was all about… Bringing the Ride Switzerland crew together, to get to know each other a little better and to hang out with good company in a relaxed environment. And man, did we have a good time!
We at Reverse have always been super stoked about our collaboration with Ride snowboards and thought it was time we could show these fellows a little love. So a while ago, Nicki came up with the idea of having a family gathering. We pitched the idea to Böni, our brand manager, and soon after, we strategically picked out a date in springtime to set up this event. Little did we know that the winter would never seem to end… As we were getting closer to the weekend, we realized that the weather might not even get close to what we were hoping for and thus we were afraid our little gathering might turn out to be a bummer!

But hey, we had this whole thing planned and were still excited about meeting all the guys who represent this great brand so we were keen to adjust some of the activities planned to make sure everyone had a good time!

How we got started

We started off on Friday in the late afternoon with a chill apéro at an exclusive venue on the Crap Sogn Gion. While we were enjoying some beers and snacks at The Bridge in the renovated GaLAAXy, we had an interesting brainstorm session about what Ride, as a brand, means to us. We concluded by stating that we all feel connected to this brand with a strong feeling of community, family, and the love for the shred.
After the session, we enjoyed some more drinks at Indy bar, while getting excited about for the next two days!

Fiesta

The plan for Saturday was to grab some breakfast all together, go shred some park-laps in the morning, have lunch at Noname bar and get wasted at Schnulz im Sulz, an annual Schlager festival on Alp Nagens! Unfortunately, the weather gods were not in our favor, so we had to change up the plan a little… We met up at Noname a bit later than foreseen to get prepared (read: wasted) to go to Schnulz im Sulz. So we hung out, had shots and moved our tipsy asses to higher grounds to shake off those legs! It was dumping the whole day, as if it was still mid-winter, but the Jäger shots and dance moves kept us warm. After having a couple to many shots, we moved the party to the Freestyle Academy in Laax, where some of Europe’s finest transition skaters were competing at the annual Team Trouble skatecontest and finished of with a lovely dinner at Camino restaurant. Some brave souls continued to party until the early morning at Team Trouble’s afterparty at Riders Club…

Wrapping it up

The look on Dennis’ face was worth a thousand words when we met up on Sunday morning! So it appeared to be a pretty rough party… Haha! We met up at Noname around 10 o’clock and again the weather was pretty tough on us. It hadn’t stopped dumping all night. Even though the park shapers gave their best to shovel out all their parks, the conditions weren’t really getting us stoked to hit the park as we had initially planned. But since the snow was really nice, we soon got excited about the alternative idea of getting some faceshots in the whiteroom! Nicki and Leo grabbed their cameras and joined the crew for some laps in that fresh white gold. This turned out to be a much more fruitful session than we initially thought. Satisfied, we moved back to The Bridge at GaLAAXy to have a grill session with the family. We had hoped for clear skies with a bright sun shining on our faces, but instead we had to do with some sudden sunbeams penetrating the thick clouds above the Crap Sogn Gion. So we took the grilling session to the next level and grilled our sausages above the fireplace inside The Bridge. We had awesome food and cold beers to wrap up an awesome weekend with the Ride family. From there on, our ways parted, with big smiles on our faces, satisfied about how this happening went down!

A big thanks to all of the people who were involved in making this a great weekend! We hope to see you all again soon and we’re excited to have more of these family events.

Cheers,
The Reverse Team
