Fernie

Our adventure started at the Calgary branch of Fraserway RV where we collected the huge pickup that was to be our home for the next two weeks. Our cosy cabin on wheels opened up to reveal a bed, a table, a tiny kitchen and a bathroom which we improvised as winter gear storage (the RV couldn’t carry any fluids in the pipes because of sub-zero temperatures, which meant that the toilets and shower were unusable). Before long, we were cruising along the Canadian highway towards British Columbia. Our first stop was Fernie where the alpine mountains got Sebi hyped since the first turns. Me? Not so much… The steep and rocky faces added to my fear for heights left me more vertiginous than excited! Fortunately, the thought of trying out my new RIDE snowboard got me through. The company recently released their first women’s board from the Pig Family. My Psychocandy is beautifully crafted, and I customized it with an abusive sticker job.

https://fotballsonen.com/2024/03/07/vjop76o8 Our campsite in Fernie was situated directly by the slopes, enabling us to ride straight from the mountains into our ‘backyard’. The public conveniences were anything but convenient. As both Sebi and I are not young anymore, we almost always need to get up to visit the bathroom at least once per night. So around 2am, Sebi and I would wake up, wrap up in jackets, beanies, warm socks and go out on our mission in temperatures of -15 degrees. In the mornings, we would grab a quick breakfast either in the city or in the comfort of our van and then roll to the lifts to ride the first lines. Even though most of the resorts only have three to four lifts there were hardly any queues. With so many riding and freeriding opportunities in the area, people naturally seem to spread out as they seek their own adventures. The result is very few people arriving at once to the bottom of the lifts.

Whitewater

Tramadol Order Cod Fernie was followed by Whitewater, near the town of Nelson. The bowl-shaped resort affords fabulous views up the mountains from every face. Now fully fledged adventurers, we decided to stay overnight in the resort parking lot reserved for RVs. By this point, we were happy to accept the “facilities”: two chemical toilets and snow for toothpaste. That night, when nature called, Sebi was inspired to get outside and make the most of the moonlight for a midnight expedition. After some sleepy protests on my part, we were soon both outside, hiking through deep snow.

https://elisabethbell.com/aczw1jtrtk3 The pretty lakeside city of Nelson is framed by infinite mountains, and I think the scenery must shape people’s personalities. I began to notice the freerider spirit in almost all the locals we met. Freeriding is a lifestyle in Canada. People grow up in the mountains and are educated by nature. Canadian freeriders are nothing like European slope skiers as we know them. You can see it in them, in the way they dress, the way they approach the slopes… Nothing can stop them and nothing will slow them down. British Columbia hosts many junior freeriding competitions where young kids fearlessly hit faces that I wouldn’t even want to penguin slide down.

Red Mountain

Our next stop was Red Mountain by the town of Rossland where the annual carnival was in full swing. This charming city was in a celebratory mood, and so were we. Bring on the daily Ceasers! This drink was invented by an Italian barman working in Canada. He wanted to create a cocktail that tasted of home: flavours of spaghetti topped with tomato salsa and clams. So he mixed clamato juice and vodka and served it with salty delicacies (bacon, pickles, olives…). Seriously, don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. This blood-like liquid is now my absolute favourite. And I’m a die-hard Negroni lover.

https://musiciselementary.com/2024/03/07/etftsh370h Red Mountain is spectacular, whatever the weather. But on cloudy days, a veritable ocean would form, giving way only to a few proud peaks. A dream for Instagrammers – and a moment of real-life joy for social media shunners.

Revelstoke

Order Tramadol Overnight Delivery Our route to Revelstoke involved a ferry, which was an entertaining experience in itself. And driving along the infinite lakes between the imposing Rockies was riveting – a show I could never tire of.

https://tankinz.com/azmqseqe Revelstoke is home to many famous freeriders and has nurtured some of the best ski and snowboarding talent of our generation. You can tell that the whole town has embraced the freeriding essence, from outdoor shops to local restaurants. The Trans-Canada Highway intersects the city, opening Revelstoke to travellers from the East and West. There’s also a small airport for those who prefer a bird’s eye view of the spectacular scenery.

Online Tramadol Cod Riding my Psychocandy was a lot of fun in Revelstoke. The “easy” hike at the top of the resort gives way to long stretches of white fields punctuated with frozen trees that you can Ollie over or zig zag around (or crash into).

Golden and Rogers Pass

https://wasmorg.com/2024/03/07/eh1a3yef8 After a few days in Revelstoke we set off for Golden. Our journey took us past the national park of Rogers Pass, or “backslap heaven” as Sebi came to call it. We visited the park information centre for a useful update on the snow situation and touring areas. With conditions even better than we’d hoped for, we decided to stay overnight in the area after a quick visit to the city of Golden.

My highlight the next morning was the chance to try out my new K2 splitboard for the first time (well, second actually, but the first time doesn’t count as I hadn’t realised the bindings had a “walking mode” and the mission ended shortly after it started). Our expedition was a success: I kept up a decent pace despite my laziness, Sebi got some sweet shots and we both got to ride deep powder in this wild and protected region.

A few last thoughts

http://countocram.com/2024/03/07/f3z346lv Commuting with an RV was fun and we appreciated the convenience of having our stuff on hand the whole time. However, we were constantly forced to drive around with our whole house setup, even for small trips to restaurants. The first days were challenging for us to be flexible. But after just 2-3 days and thanks to my lack of support and co-piloting skills, Sebi became pretty agile with parking the RV between trees and cars.

Tramadol Overnight Visa Conditions can be unforgiving, so a 4×4 is essential. I’d also recommend adding a generous margin to any automated travel time predictions – Google Maps forgets to adjust for pit stops, scenery viewing or those times when snowfall cuts your speed to walking pace.

https://tankinz.com/4irfbcipn4e When it comes to skiing/snowboarding, we would strongly advise you to bring your touring equipment. All the resorts offer a wide range of attractive off-piste terrains that can only be reached with touring gear. The most important thing, of course, is to stay safe so please only start your trip if you’re properly equipped and prepared. Keep your avalanche kit on you at all times and check snow conditions and the weather report before you embark on a tour. Analyse which faces are most affected by the sun and don’t be afraid to ask the snow patrol for advice and suggestions. Do your homework and research any mountains you wish to ride in advance. It’s worth all the effort – you’re going to have an amazing time.

In the space of two short weeks, Sebi and I had the chance to ride all kinds of surfaces and learned to live in the wild… And now we’re ready: Freeride World Tour, here we come!
