As most of us already know, the snowboarding scene has very little money to offer, and anyone working in the industry does it out of passion and not for the cash. There is only a hand full of riders who can fully live from snowboarding. The majority enjoys the snow in winter and works in summer to earn enough to get through the colder season. We are doomed to a simple life with very little revenue in our pockets, but damn we love it! Money can‘t bring the snow, but snowboarding is an expensive sport that requires a lot of equipment. This is when all the partnerships between snow lovers and brands make sense. Both parties support each other. On the one hand, riders get good deals on winter gear, and on the other, the brand receives some publicity though the rider’s performance and social presence. This is a standard collaboration model.

These two are the power team supporting the brand, however, and wherever they can. Hey Pirmin and Dennis, thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. Let’s get right into the most important question: why do you take time off from your current job to work some more for free?

D: Because it’s a family thing. It all started 12 years ago, when I got sponsored by K2 snowboarding. After a couple of knockouts and a broken shoulder, I quit competing and got more into supporting snowboard tests during winter for Ride Snowboards and K2 snowboards. Now, I became a promoter and represent two of the best brands ever. I give my heart and soul and my free time to Ride and K2, and in exchange, I get some stuff for free. It’s like a long-lasting relationship. I’m very grateful for being a part of the swiss K2 and Ride family.

I’m not that much into finances, but we definitely felt the economic crisis, which brought a tense time. Nowadays, we’re back vibing and celebrating the snow, and we are having a good time.

The wildness in snowboarding is history. The industry became more professional. The facilitation and trainings for young talents are much more structured, and the resorts are offering more options.
